Careers Festivals

Waikato is in its third year and going from strength to strength providing workplace visits, industry promotions, job seminars, parents’ workshops, tertiary open days, CV clinics and career planning, among the increasing number of events run across the Waikato region.

Kaikoura is in its second year with a feature being to provide young people with information on opportunities within the town and encouraging employers to give young locals work experience, training and job opportunities which can lead to advancement within the area.

Christchurch has run one Careers Month which was highly successful and was held in conjunction with the Careers Expo.

Manawatu held their first Career Insight (celebrating careers and growth in our region) and launched a highly successful website to support the event.

Otago is in its second year running over 70 events around the region with high numbers of participants being involved.  Information seminars and site tours remain popular events as does the information and support offered by Career Services.   Registration forms are available for the May 2011 Otago Careers Festival [contact Victoria Bunton - victoria@sequelevents.co.nz]

Otago is being divided up as follows during the 2011 Festival programme:

  • 2 – 8 May – Clutha
  • 2 – 17 May – Dunedin
  • 9 – 15 May – Waitaki
  • 16 – 22 May – Queenstown

 

Careers Expos

A number of Careers Expo's are run around the country including major expos in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.   These Expo's provide an excellent vehicle for students and providers.   The MTFJ Executive Officer [Jan Francis] is a member of the Coca-Cola Careers Expo Trust Advisory Board and this year the Trust launched a new vision for the Expo's based on industry hubs - called Future Careers.   Read more.
