YOUTH WEEK2011 |

46 amounts of funding were applied for in 2011. This year's publication showcases the innovative, exciting and worthwhile projects that were brought to fruition. The chosen projects show young people do care a great deal about others in their communities and want to make a difference. Young people are an integral and vibrant part of every community in Aotearoa and we encourage all Mayors to put the establishment of a Youth Council, if one does not already exist in their area, high on the agenda. Exciting things are happening around the country and it’s fantastic that again we’ve had the opportunity to support young people during Youth Week.
Young people are the most precious resource in any community. The communities Mayors lead today, young people will lead tomorrow – so what will the legacy be? Let it be one of positive and forward thinking actions, so our young people can move forward with pride, passion and enthusiasm. In each and every community around New Zealand, the results of our energies today will be the legacy inherited by our youth tomorrow.
The Mayors Taskforce sincerely thanks the Ministry of Youth Development for its commitment to young people and to its partnership with the Taskforce. We look forward to working together again for Youth Week 2012.
