Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ)

LGNZ is the umbrella organisation for all local authorities in New Zealand. All 78 councils are members of LGNZ and is governed by the National Council which is made up of 15 elected members from throughout New Zealand. The organisation's purpose is to deliver the sector’s Vision: “Local democracy powering community and national success.”

LGNZ represents the national interests of councils in New Zealand and lead best practice in the local government sector. They provide advocacy and policy services, business support, advice and training to our members to assist them to build successful communities throughout New Zealand.

Ministry of Education 

The Ministry of Education is the Government's lead advisor on the New Zealand education system, shaping direction for sector agencies and providers.

Youth Guarantee 

The Youth Guarantee initiative aims to provide learners with more choices, ways and places to achieve NCEA L2 or equivalent.

The Youth Guarantee provides foundation education to achieve NCEA L2 or equivalent to enable young people to transition to further education and participate in the workforce. The Youth Guarantee provides young people a wider range of learning opportunities to access qualifications at levels 1-3 on the National Qualifications Framework in tertiary education.

A range of programmes including Vocational Pathways, Secondary-Tertiary Programmes (including Trades Academies), Service Academies and Fees-free places provide learners opportunities to engage in higher education and vocational training.

Careers NZ

Careers New Zealand role is to improve connections between education and employment, by using their expertise to support organisations and New Zealanders so they are making informed choices about their future employment.

Careers New Zealand develop the capability of people in organisations who influence others, using our information and tools to provide careers support to their children, learners, clients and staff. Organisations we work with include career professionals, schools and tertiary organisations, community groups, businesses and local government, welfare and support agencies who influence the career choices of others.

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) was formed in July 2012 by bringing together the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Science and Innovation, Department of Labour and Department of Building and Housing. MBIE is the government’s lead business-facing agency. Their purpose is to grow the New Zealand economy to provide a better standard of living for all New Zealanders.

Education to Employment Taskforce

The Education and Employers Taskforce charity was launched on the 15th October 2009 with the aim of ‘ensuring that every school and college has an effective partnership with employers to provide its young people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential and so to secure the UK’s future prosperity’.

The charity works to achieve this by working in close partnership with leading national bodies representing schools, colleges and employers
